Transport in Bali
Bali is a small island with regular, inexpensive public transport.Traffic is heavy on the main roads from Denpasar (airport) south to the Kuta region and Sanur so pick your travel times well.
A great place to rent your own vehicle (a small 4WD called a Jimny are most popular, with larger more comfortable Toyota Kijang for a bigger family) as the rest of the island and minor roads are remarkably uncrowded and easy to navigate.Main roads are well sign-posted and maps are readily available.Remember hiring by the week is substantially cheaper and hiring a car with a driver whilst a little more costly, is also an option.
Taxi & Private Taxi
If you don’t have pre-arranged travel to/from the airport (Ngurah Rai, just south of Kuta beach) then official pre-paid taxi counters, just outside the terminals are best.Remember: if you have a surfboard you will be charged extra… Pre-arranged taxi is a simple way to get out and about.
Tiny Tip: A taxi for the day is a good option if exploring further afield and drivers can double up as guides.

Bemo
Bemo's are mini buses and are the public transport option for the island, private charters are available and can be arranged by the hour or by the day. Tourist shuttle buses are also available in most towns
Boats & Boat Trips
These Small boats go to a number of islands around Bali, plenty of boat tours will be on offer in your area and can be booked on the day.
Tiny Tip: www.Balihaicruises.com have a range of different charter options if you prefer to pre-book luxury charter.
