Transport in Laos

Mekong River Taxi, Longtail Boat, Sawngthaew (colourful pickup), Lot doi saan (wooden bus), tuk tuk.

Remember to keep away from dangerous speedboats (surfboards with engines!) no matter how tempting...Laos is renowned for it's activity sports. Our advice is that the majority of them should probably be left to the backpackers, health and safety here leaves a lot to be desired. Our experience has found that when they sell you a simple kayaking trip down the Mekong.Beware! this could involve a 6hr paddle with Grade 3 rapids to negotiate...



Tiny Tip: A 


Bemo's are mini busesand are the public transport option for the island, private charters are available and can be arranged by the hour or by the day. Tourist shuttle buses are also available in most towns

Boats & Boat Trips

These Small boats go to a number of islands around Bali, plenty of boat tours will be on offer in your area and can be booked on the day.

Tiny Tip: have a range of different charter options if you prefer to pre-book luxury charter.
